Voluntary Benefits of America was launched to equip employee benefit brokers and consultants with the tools to implement voluntary benefits without the need for an enrollment firm or carrier agent. The cornerstone of this implementation process is the software program AutoApp™ (Patent Pending). The Founder of VBA, Tom Smith, has a history of utilizing technology to simplify employee benefit communication and enrollment. He introduced an online core benefit enrollment system in 1997 and later launched one of the industries most recognized benefit statement services, www.hiddenpaycheck.com in 2000.
The precursor of the AutoAppTM software was originally developed as a tool for checking the accuracy of the hundreds of thousands of benefit statements generated by www.hiddenpaycheck.com—converting paper into electronic data. Smith quickly realized the technology’s potential for improving the voluntary benefits enrollment process and gave his technology team the task of developing a new electronic enrollment platform. After developing the software and testing it with very successful results, he decided to start Voluntary Benefits of America to distribute the process to other brokers and consultants.
